Planted Detroit is a vertical hydroponic farm on Detroit’s East Side. Position Summary:

The Farm Tech role at Planted is essential to the success of growing operations.  Expertise in all areas of growing is necessary to fulfill daily operation duties. Planted team Farm Techs can work at each station in the farm - seeding, planting, harvesting/processing and cleaning. Each Farm Tech can be cross trained across all areas of operations so they can be deployed to work where needed throughout the work day. 

Responsibilities:

1. Harvesting and preparing orders for customers
2. Seeding varieties of plants for production needs
3. Monitoring water and environmental quality 
   1. Tracking and adjusting:
      1. pH
      2. Electrical conductivity
      3. Nutrient composition
      4. Temperature 
      5. Humidity
4. Observing and monitoring plant health
5. Maintaining and cleaning hydroponic equipment
6. Organizing and cleaning facilities and tools
7. Tracking inventory and reporting to managers
8. Delivering product to customers/potential customers

Qualifications:

1 plus years of agricultural experience preferred (vertical farming or related field) 

• Eagerness to learn valuable new skills
• Able to follow instructions and work efficiently
• Good communication skills
• Able to operate a variety of tools and mechanical equipment safely
• Ideal applicant lives near the farm or within the city limits of Detroit
• Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.
• Must be available weekends and some holidays

Physical requirements:

• Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. 
• Be able to lift 50 lbs. 
• Be able to work on a 12 ft staircase if need be while tending to plants on our vertical grow systems.
• Not afraid of heights

Work Environment: Warehouse environment. Expertise in all areas of growing - seeding, planting, harvesting/processing and cleaning is necessary to fulfill daily operation duties.
